Gone to the Dogs Training School

At Gone To The Dogs, our dog training professionals encompass our phylosophies and share our goals. Our dog handling and training methods come from the reward-based, positive reinforcement school of thought. Classes are meant to encourage stronger relationships, build a foundation for good canine citizenship and create happy, social and well-rounded dogs. Thus our classes are small, limited to 8 dogs per class for a more personalized session.

Little Tikes I

Instructor: Melissa Reed-Woodruff - Course length: 6 weeks - Price: $90

Course description: This class is designed for puppies from the ages of 8-weeks-old to 20-weeks-old.
The goal of this class are to begin the important process of socializing your puppy with different people, dogs and environments,
to begin getting your puppy accustom to handling exercises and to introduce your puppy to simple obedience behaviors.
This class will help owners understand their puppies and how they learn, which is the first step to starting a great relationship with your dog.
Additionally, the instructor will cover topics such as potty-training, crate-training, mouthing and jumping. 

Little Tikes II

Course descripion: This class is designed for puppies from the ages of 16-weeks-old to40-weeks-old.
This class is a continuation from Puppy I. The goals of this class are to continue the socialization process of your puppy with different people, dogs and environments, progress with advanced handling exercises and to continue teaching your puppy more complex obedience behaviors. During this session there will be one or two classes where the class will travel as a group off-site to a public area to practice how to handle real-life encounters with your puppy. This class will help owners understand their puppies and how they learn, which is the first step to starting a great relationship with your dog. Additionally, the instructor will cover topics such as potty-training, crate-training, mouthing and jumping.

Basic Manners Class

Instructor: Melissa Reed-Woodruff - Course length: 8 weeks - Price: $100

Course description: This class is designed for any dog over the age of 6-months-old. The goal of this class is for owners to understand how their dog learns, and to teach your dog the behaviors needed to be a well-mannered pet. During this class the instructor uses a positive and friendly approach to teaching your dog basic obedience behaviors such as sit, down, stay, coming when called, loose-leash walking, attention, leave-it and polite greeting. The instructor will discuss many topics including how to communicate with our dogs, leadership, and how to deal with issues like potty-training, jumping and barking. 
Important Note: please come to the first class without your dog!

Trick 'N Treat Class

Instructor: Melissa Reed-Woodruff - Course length: 8 weeks - Price: $100

Course description:This class is designed for any dog over the age of 8-months-old and that has completed a basic obedience class. The goal of this class is to develop a bond between the owner and their dog while teaching their dog fun tricks. During this class the instructor uses a positive and friendly approach to teaching your dog important foundations for trick training and then will build upon your dog's skills to progress onto moe complex tricks. This class may cover tricks such as: roll-over, wave good-bye, leg-weave, spin, crawl, walking backwards, begging, "touch-tricks" (getting a Kleenex, turning on a light switch), fetching tricks (getting the newspaper, frisbee games), and will be open to student's requests. Trick potential is never-ending which will make this class fun and ever-evolving!

Advanced Manners Class (Canine Good Citizen)

Instructor: Melissa Reed-Woodruff - Course length: 8 weeks - Price: $100

Course description: This class is designed to prepare you and your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. We will continue with the same skills taught in the Basic Manners class while adding distractions. We will be building a foundation to be able to take your dog off leash! At the end of this class you will have the option of taking the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test.

CGC Test Date
